A magician claims to be able to read your mind. In order to prove his psychic abilities he asks to pick a number. He tells you to multiply it by 4 and subtract 6. He then tells you to divide by 2 and add 7. He asks you to tell the crowd your answer. You tell the crowd 10 and he immediately tells you the number you were thinking of was 3. Explain how he was able to figure your answer out so quickly. Justify your conclusion by using mathematical equations, diagrams, and/or words.
